Carrie Prejean, Patriot

Dear Carrie Prejean,

Thank you for preserving our free society. I am aware of the challenge you undertook in facing the unenlightened powers that, to this day, slander you in the public square. They have said ugly things about you, a woman of character whose beauty is undisputed. Your brave act unearthed the rot operating underground to consume the roots of healthy political discourse. In the name of tolerance, some persons poisoned the well of public discourse with their unfair, even hateful, remarks about you.

I am not sure if you are aware of this, Ms. Prejean, but the vitriol that your common-sense remark aroused has been around for quite some time. It is ironic, but those who mean-spiritedly slander you are also those who strongly advocate ending “hate speech” through legislation. In the Christian community, we understand that the predominant forces motivating “hate speech” legislation mean it as double-speak for “moral speech” and ultimately “free speech.” You spoke freely, you spoke your moral opinion, and in so doing cast into the American spotlight those who tried to keep in the darkness the primary goal of “hate speech” legislation. Since such legislation does not yet exist, these people resort to calling you hateful, stunning an American populace in a perfect storm of irony.

Though you may not feel as though it is true, the majority of Americans do not believe you did anything wrong. The majority of Americans are horrified by the shameful behavior of your critics. The majority of Americans, even many who do not agree with your opinion, believe that you had a right to express it. The majority of Americans feel that your opinion should not have contributed to your losing the crown. The majority of Americans are proud of you. As a 24 year old and, in one sense, a peer, I would like to thank you for the hard work you put in to becoming a beauty queen. Thank you for being fearless. Thank you also for sacrificing your chances at a title you have worked so hard to achieve in order to do the right thing. I hope that we, your peers, may be as brave and good in the defense of our common rights as you have been.

Regards,

Dustin R Steeve

Somebody give us a definition of “hate,” a definition that applies to EVERYBODY at ALL times and in EVERY circumstance so that EVERYBODY is treated equally and equitably. So far, all we have is a definition that suits Libs, and that isn’t equal/equitable treatment, as far as a law that is brought to bear on somebody.

If so-called “hate crime” legislation is gonna work, it also has to work against Libs and their little friends for THEIR “hate.”

Source: Carrie Prejean ’sex tape’ spurred pageant settlementBy Alan Duke, CNN

Los Angeles, California (CNN) — The sudden end to a legal battle between dethroned Miss California USA Carrie Prejean and pageant officials was prompted by the revelation of a “sex tape,” according to a source familiar with the lawsuits’ settlement.

Prejean was fired in June after lingerie-modeling photos of her emerged that pageant officials said were a breach of her contract. Prejean sued the pageant in August, arguing her firing was religious discrimination because of her opposition to same-sex marriage.

Pageant officials countersued last month, demanding their former beauty queen repay $5,200 in pageant money spent for her breast implants and give them all proceeds from a book she’s written.

A settlement of both lawsuits was signed in New York Tuesday, but no details were made public. Lawyers and parties for each side were bound by a confidentiality pledge, according to the source.

The veil of secrecy was partially lifted Wednesday after celebrity gossip Web site TMZ reported the deal was sealed after pageant lawyers presented an “extremely graphic” home video involving Prejean.

TMZ Managing Editor Harvey Levin said during a webcast Wednesday that he obtained the Prejean video during the summer, but found it “too racy” to post on his site. He indicated Prejean was alone in the video.

The source with knowledge of the settlement talks told CNN those details were accurate.

Prejean’s lawyer, Charles LiMandri, responded with a short statement issued through an employee at his law office. “It’s a confidential settlement, and he can’t discuss it,” the statement said.

I’m sure that there’s a lesson in here somewhere — I mean, once you get past the boob jobs, sex tapes, slush funds, law suits, nudie pictures and book deals. I wonder what it could be.
